Alan Wachtel
is Government Relations Director of the California Association of
Bicycling Organizations and vice chair of the California Bicycle
Advisory Committee, which reports to the Department of
Transportation. As a consultant, he has helped develop bicycle
plans for the cities of Berkeley and San Francisco. He is also an
Effective Cycling instructor certified by the League of American
Bicyclists. The character of a judge was named for him on
the television program “Hill Street Blues.” He lives
in Palo Alto, a city renowned for its bicycling activities.
